Il Ponte Casa d'Aste Reports €33.5M in 2022 Sales, Unveils 2023 Calendar

Milanese auction house Il Ponte closed 2022 with 42 auctions and total revenue exceeding €33.5 million, according to year-end figures. The modern and contemporary art department led sales with over €14 million, featuring top lots including Lucio Fontana's 'Concetto Spaziale, Natura' (1959-60) at €625,000 and Alighiero Boetti's 'La metà e il doppio' (1979) at €600,000. Italian masters Fausto Pirandello and Renato Di Bosso set new world auction records at €300,000 and €125,000 respectively. The jewelry sector ranked second with over €6 million in total sales, highlighted by a 16.44-carat diamond pendant that sold for nearly €1.2 million. Prestigious collections, including that of actress Valentina Cortese, helped the Furniture and Old Masters Paintings segment exceed €5.4 million. General Director Rossella Novarini stated the house will continue investing in content and solutions to bring catalogs and auctions 'to the home.' The 2023 calendar opens on January 31 with an auction of antique and artist books, featuring a 15th-century copy of Dante's 'Divine Comedy' (estimate €30,000–50,000), a personalized copy of Salvador Dalí's 'Biblia Sacra vulgatae editionis' with an original gouache (estimate €40,000–60,000), and rare artist books from Giovan Battista Piranesi, Agostino Bonalumi, Joan Miró, and Bruno Munari.
