Il Ponte auction: Josef Albers leads, Leonor Fini sets record

Il Ponte's Modern and Contemporary Art auction on May 26-28, 2026, achieved over €4.7 million in sales, with 90% of lots sold and an average appreciation of 198%. The top lot was Josef Albers' "Study for Homage to the Square: Full Tenor" (1959) at €384,000. Leonor Fini's "Portrait d'Italo Svevo" (1928) sold for €358,400, a record for a youthful work by the artist, acquired by Fondazione CRTrieste. Other notable results include Giorgio Morandi's "Fiori" (1946) at €256,000, Alberto Magnelli's "Entente secrète" (1948) at €102,400, Felice Casorati's "Fanciulla che dorme" (1955) at €96,000, Massimo Campigli's "Ragazza con abito verde / Composizione e figure / Tre figure" (1956) at €83,200, Medardo Rosso's "Enfant juif" at €89,600, Alberto Viani's "Nudo seduto" (1949) at €83,200, Salvo's "Una sera" at €128,000, Enrico Baj's "Commandeur" at €96,000, and Mario Schifano's "Dada Festival" at €89,600.
