Il Giardino di Yoshimasa: Eighth Creative Graft at Casa del Sole

The Giardino di Yoshimasa, a project by artist Carla Iacono at Casa del Sole in Ceranesi, near Genoa, has reached its eighth creative graft with a residency by Roberto Ghezzi and Ilaria Margutti, curated by Livia Savorelli, titled 'Di tracce, sedimenti e memorie incarnate'. The garden, conceived as a 'metamorphic container' of art, nature, and experiences, was born from a personal tragedy—the loss of Iacono's husband, Guido Geerts—and has evolved into a collective, open-ended artwork. Iacono emphasizes the importance of the garden as a space for connection, sharing, and long-term listening, countering the fast-paced, commodified exhibition formats. The project involves site-specific interventions and residencies by various artists, each adding layers of meaning without erasing previous ones. Iacono sees this as a continuity with her photographic research, which blends autobiographical and universal themes, while also opening a new chapter in her practice. The garden, now two years old, is a 'constellation' of interventions and memories, reflecting the artist's belief that art today needs places that produce experiences before works.
