IKEA revives PS collection after nearly a decade with playful, affordable designs

architecture-design · 2026-04-24

For the first time in almost a decade, IKEA has introduced a new edition of its experimental PS collection, showcasing 30 items from 12 designers centered around the concept of playful functionality. This collection made its debut during Milan design week in 2025, featuring notable pieces like a rocking bench by Marta Krupińska from Poland, a floor uplighter by Lex Pott from the Netherlands, and an easy chair by Ellen Hallström. Other highlights include a height-adjustable stool and an inflatable armchair, both designed by Mikael Axelsson, a folding chair by Hallström, a solid-wood shelf by Friso Wiersma, and a portable LED lamp by Lex Pott. Most products are priced under £100. Creative leader Maria O'Brian noted that this collection allows designers to explore beyond the typical range. Originally, the PS collection was launched at the Milan furniture fair in 1995 to make avant-garde Scandinavian design more accessible.
