IKEA launches experimental PS collection with blow-up armchair and wooden rocking bench
IKEA unveiled the new edition of its experimental PS collection, featuring a blow-up armchair and a wooden rocking bench. Many pieces are priced under £100, aiming to make cutting-edge Scandinavian design accessible. Notable items include a height-adjustable stool inspired by woodworking clamps and a portable lamp described as 'universal and unpretentious'. In architecture, the Metropol Parasol in Seville was featured in Dezeen's parametricism series, along with the Seoul Robot & AI Museum by Melike Altınışık Architects. Altınışık stated parametricism positively influences architecture but should not be a universal style. Tour Triangle by Herzog & de Meuron topped out in Paris at 180 meters, becoming the third-tallest building within city limits. MAD completed the Hainan Science Museum in China, wrapped in silver-toned polymer panels with ring-shaped galleries around a five-storey atrium. British designer Jasper Morrison expressed sympathy for young designers, noting the rise of craft amid dwindling commercial opportunities, reminiscent of 1980s London. Popular projects included interiors of the world's largest sailing yacht Orient Express Corinthian, a Bali home from reclaimed wood, and light-filled mews homes in Edinburgh.
