Iggy Pop and Manuel Agnelli narrate Tutankhamun documentary

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

A new documentary titled 'Tutankhamon. The Last Exhibition' features the voices of Iggy Pop (international version) and Manuel Agnelli (Italian version). Produced by Laboratoriorosso Srl, led by antiquity photographer Sandro Vannini, in collaboration with Nexo Digital of Franco di Sarro, the film revisits the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in Luxor's Valley of the Kings nearly 100 years ago. It also documents the traveling exhibition 'King Tut: Treasures of The Golden Pharaoh,' which started in Los Angeles in 2019 but was interrupted by COVID-19, following the movement of 150 objects for the largest exhibition of the pharaoh outside Egypt. The documentary was originally scheduled for 2020 but delayed by the pandemic. It will be distributed by Nexo in Italy and has been sold to distributors in Spain, New Zealand, and Australia, with negotiations ongoing for the US and Japan. Rosella Gioffré of Nexo Digital explained they sought a voice with different appeal, and Iggy Pop accepted immediately. Vannini, speaking from Egypt, praised Pop's voice as incredible and perfect for the film. Manuel Agnelli, frontman of Afterhours, previously voiced Caravaggio's inner self for another Nexo production.
