IF_Legacy Festival at Teatro India in Rome Explores Present Through Sci-Fi

The 12th edition of the IF/INVASIONI (dal) FUTURO_LEGACY*2025 festival, held at Teatro India in Rome, is more relevant than ever. Conceived by lacasadargilla with dramaturg Roberto Scarpetti, performer Tania Garribba, and composer Giordano Ruggeri, the festival involves over 70 professionals across four generations. IF_Legacy focuses on Philip K. Dick and Kazuo Ishiguro to examine interhuman relationships in the present. The festival features multimedia melologues, music, video art, radio, conferences, and workshops. New this year is IF/Art, which includes three sound and interactive installations. Among them, "Here there and everywhere" by Alessandro Ferroni offers a sonic journey through Rome's memories; "Artrhopoda" by Maddalena Parise draws analogies between insects and ecosystems; and "Malo" by Andrea Pizzalis, based on a workshop by Fabio Condemi, reflects on madness using materials from a former women's asylum. The festival opened with "Arecibo" by Matteo Finamore and Jacopo Angelini, addressing communication in the digital age. Music is performed live, including original compositions by Alessandro Ferroni for "Klara and the Sun" and Giordano Ruggeri for "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and "The Man in the High Castle." Audience response has been strong, with about 200 visitors per day engaging with installations, radio, and performances.
