IED Students Redesign Logo for Turin's Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano

For the 160th anniversary of Italian unification, the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano in Turin has renewed its visual identity with a logo designed by students from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Turin. The museum invited third-year graphic design students to create a contemporary logo as part of their thesis projects. Among three proposals, the winning design, titled "Una storia emozionante, la nostra" (An exciting story, ours), was created by Luca Fiori, Leone Pasero, Martina Scagliotti, and Nicole Vivaldo. It combines an 'R' and an exclamation mark into a single symbol, using red to evoke revolutionary fervor and projecting a call for a new Risorgimento. The logo will be projected onto the Mole Antonelliana on March 16, while the facade of Palazzo Carignano will be illuminated with the Italian tricolor for the week. On March 17, the anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861, a live-streamed event from the Chamber of the Italian Parliament will feature Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini and other guests. The museum's new communication campaign, created by Turin agency Undesign, pairs quotes from historical figures with current events. Paola Zini, Director of IED Turin and President of the Consorzio della Reggia di Venaria, emphasized the importance of creative professions in valorizing cultural heritage.
