IED Students Present 'Identity' Installation at Florence's Ex-Teatro dell'Oriuolo During Pitti Uomo

During Pitti Uomo, running until June 14, IED presents 'Identity,' an installation in ten acts curated by multidisciplinary artist Michel Comte. Twelve fashion designers from IED campuses in Italy, Spain, and Brazil explore the theme of identity through performance, video, drawing, music, and photography. The installation is housed in the newly reopened ex-Teatro dell'Oriuolo, a 18th-century building that had been inaccessible for nearly three decades, now assigned to IED for five years. Works include Eleonora Gentile's 'A Passo d’Uomo' using second-hand yarns, Giovanni Toniolo's capsule 'Etere,' Sabrina Salem's video-outfit 'Io con,' Leonardo Fizialetti's sculpture 'Venus of Things,' Alessia Basilico's 'Piccole cose,' Gaizka Albizu's 'Olympia,' Ana Montesa Lopez's 'Masculinity in Bloom,' Daniel Barris Sanjaime's 'Jugar a ser dolent no està tan malament,' Anastasia Pandelli's no-gender capsule 'Metagnize' with a performative element, and Diana Arbex's upcycled denim capsule 'Tramóia.' IED Florence Director Danilo Venturi praised the generation as giving hope for the future of the creative world.
