IED Student Wins Swiss Cross Textile Award 2016
Valeria Papagni, a third-year student at IED Moda Milano, won the Swiss Cross Textile Award 2016 with her project Alpstreck. The award ceremony took place on June 21, 2016, at the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia in Milan, during the IED Graduates Fashion Show. The prize, promoted by IED and the Consulate General of Switzerland, focused on the theme of travel, linked to the inauguration of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. Papagni will participate in an eyewear design project with INVU-Swiss Eyewear Group, to be presented at MIDO. Honorable mentions went to Yuqing Wang and the duo Judith Putzer and Giorgia Casarella, who will display their models in showrooms of Beppe Angiolini (Sugar) and Giulio Di Sabato (Sari Spazio). The jury, chaired by Franco Boselli, recognized the designers' contributions to tourism and sport hiking. Fabrics were supplied by Swiss textile companies Bischoff Textil AG and Jakob Schlaepfer AG.
