IED Roma Launches Master's in Interactive Environments with NONE Collective
IED Roma has launched a new Master's degree program, Laurea Magistrale in Interactive Environments, aimed at training multimedia designers for art, exhibitions, museums, events, and cultural platforms. The two-year program is coordinated by artists Gregorio Comandini and Saverio Villirillo of NONE Collective, who bring a decade of avant-garde project experience. The curriculum focuses on designing interactive and multimedia spaces, services, and devices as exchange platforms to revitalize historical, artistic, and cultural heritage. It emphasizes a critical and radical approach, blending real and digital, physical and virtual, human and non-human interactions. The program targets graduates seeking expertise in multimedia, software and hardware technology, materials, and scenography for creating installations, exhibits, and immersive experiences. A key strength is its connection to Rome's artistic and cultural heritage, using local case studies to address the relationship between historical and contemporary, conservation and innovation, culture and tourism. The coordinators envision a replicable model for contexts rich in heritage and tourism. NONE Collective is also transforming their studio into a public space for new media experimentation, called LIMINAL SPACE, opening next autumn, and launching a new artistic project, LIMINAL STATE, exploring liminality through technology and sensory hyperstimulation.
