IED presents inclusive design interventions at Milan Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-05-19

During Milan Design Week 2026, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) launched three city-wide interventions under the theme 'Living the Present,' exploring inclusive living and political citizenship through design. The projects included Glitch Camp, a camping setup for over 300 design students hosted at the post-industrial Ex Macello in Porta Vittoria, organized by Francesco Morelli Foundation with contributions from Fondazione Cariplo. The camp featured IKEA furnishings and Ferrino tents, with sets donated post-event to Arché Foundation supporting women and children victims of violence. The installation VIVO, curated by Davide Angeli and evolved from a BA thesis by Tommaso Cavalli, Chiara Gorni Silvestrini, Sofia Lipoli, and Andrea Lombardi, proposed temporary housing for emergencies, showcased at INTERNI MATERIAE. The Fare Posto installation, designed by MA Interior Design students, rethought reception spaces at Center Sammartini with modular systems by Alessia Martinez, Ekaterina Sharova, Jahnavi Desai, Stefania Straziuso, Federica Avon, Damla Dinckan, and Olga Matsiuk. IED also presented the second issue of its editorial project Notes on Plural Intelligences, titled Now-Here Land, available for free download. The initiatives coincided with IED's 60th anniversary.
