IED Florence Hosts Collective Performance 'In corpo presente'

On April 28, 2026, IED Firenze, previously known as Teatro dell'Oriuolo, presented the collective performance 'In corpo presente', marking the end of a research initiative focused on themes of freedom, belonging, presence, and collective action. Since December 2025, a group of 50 students from diverse fields at IED Firenze collaborated under the mentorship of artists Jacopo Benassi, Sabato De Sarno, and Sissi. The performance was born from experimentation and conversation, utilizing body, garment, and sound as tools to create a shared experience. Benedetta Lenzi, the Director of IED Firenze, emphasized that the project challenges the notion of the body as a site for relationships and collective imagination. She highlighted the unique collaboration of three authors from different disciplines, which opens up new avenues for thought and action. Students referenced iconic pieces from art history and visual culture, reflecting themes of social tension and collective responsibility, to delve into a collaborative creative process. The elements of garment, body, and material acted as modular components that altered and enriched the space, resulting in a dynamic tableau vivant. Lenzi concluded that the initiative enhances students' awareness of contemporary languages and cultivates essential skills in listening, relationships, and imagination within fashion, design, and visual arts.
