IED Firenze launches Campo Aperto public program at ex-Teatro dell'Oriuolo

institutional · 2026-04-26

IED Firenze has announced Campo Aperto, a public program of cross-disciplinary initiatives debuting April 3, 2025, at the former Teatro dell'Oriuolo in Florence. Directed by Benedetta Lenzi, the project opens the institute physically to the city and serves as a research platform for its 700 students. Three mentors—Leonardo Bigazzi (curator of Lo Schermo dell'Arte and VISIO), Maria Cristina Didero (curatorial director of Design Miami 2022), and Stefano Cipolla (art director of L'Espresso and director of Grafica Magazine)—will collaborate on Campo Aperto and mentor students. The program begins with the exhibition "Vestirsi è facile/Nuove forme radicali" (April 3–May 22, 2025) by architect Dario Bartolini, former member of Archizoom (1967–1973), who has been leading a workshop with students from fashion, design, and communication. The exhibition reimagines radical architecture through clothing. "Garden Talks" (May 13–14) will feature dialogues among art, design, and fashion professionals on cross-disciplinary approaches. The season closes with the first Florentine retrospective on Stefano Rovai, key figure in Italian graphics and director of RovaiWeber design, running June 25–July 18 alongside the WHY Festival. The Teatro dell'Oriuolo was assigned to IED Firenze by the municipality in 2024.
