IED Como Students Create Permanent Light Installation for 8208 Festival
The 8208 Lighting Design Festival returns to Como until November 24, featuring installations on the theme 'Boundary'. A new permanent light artwork, 'Twisting Connections', was created through a Light Art Residency involving students from IED Como and IED Barcelona, guided by artist Alessandro Lupi. The piece is installed at Ostello Bello Lake Como Hostel, a partnership between the hostel chain (with locations in Italy and Myanmar), Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli – IED Como, and IED Barcelona. IED Como president Salvatore Amura emphasizes the school's innovative model blending design with other disciplines. The residency sparked creative tension between the methodical Barcelona interior design students (Elizaveta, Léa, Paula) and the more intuitive Como visual arts students (Agustina, Ludmilla, Massimiliano). Future plans include a student exchange to Myanmar in January and a second edition of 'The Art of Journey' project.
