IED and Fondazione Francesco Morelli Launch Free Urban Camp for Design Students at Milan Design Week 2026

For the third consecutive year, IED and Fondazione Francesco Morelli have established The Glitch Camp, a free urban campground in central Milan to host design students from around the world during Milan Design Week. This initiative addresses the event's lack of accessibility, providing accommodation for 300 students aged 18-25 from over 30 nationalities, including Europe, Latin America, India, and China. Located at the Ex Macello di Milano in Porta Vittoria, the camp features colorful tents furnished by IKEA and specialized outdoor equipment from Ferrino. The site is part of the ARIA urban regeneration project by Near Sgr, which will also house the future IED Campus consolidating Milan's five locations. Beyond lodging, The Glitch Camp functions as an ephemeral citadel for creative exchange, offering workshops on upcycling with UNIQLO and Studio Masachucka and creative material reuse with Ferrino. Daily activities include muscle awakening sessions and DJ sets curated by IED Milano Sound Design students. The camp includes common areas, a bar, bathrooms, showers, and will host three social dinners and a social breakfast on April 23. IKEA furnishings will be donated to Fondazione Arché after the camp closes. While accommodation requires advance booking, the public program is open to all via email reservation at p.r@ied.it.
