IE University showcases dance centre and adaptive reuse projects in school show

architecture-design · 2026-05-17

IE University's School of Architecture and Design has presented a range of student projects, including a mixed-use building for dance and wellbeing, a workspace in an unused train station, and a speculative office in Amsterdam. The projects come from master's programs in Architecture, Interior Design, Real Estate Development, Business for Architecture and Design, and Immersive Experiences and XR. Notable works include 'El Ritmo de Casa Común' by Francesca Torres and Elisa Gaffney, a three-level domestic system for dance and recovery in Matadero Madrid; 'Life Underneath the Infrastructure' by Daniela Figueroa Rozotto, reclaiming space beneath train tracks in Sloterdijk; and 'Hortensia Nexus', a group project redeveloping the former IBM Headquarters in Madrid into a science and innovation hub backed by Inmobiliaria Colonial SOCIMI. Other projects address slum interventions, hospitality platforms, and speculative domestic architecture. The school emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach blending design, business, and technology.
