ICOM Brasil Opens Applications for New Anti-Racist Museum Seal and Trophy
The Brazilian arm of the International Council of Museums, ICOM Brasil, has launched a national call for applications for the Selo e Troféu Muriquinho de Museus Antirracistas, a new seal and trophy recognizing museums dedicated to anti-racist practices. Both public and private institutions, as well as community, Indigenous, quilombola, and territorial-based organizations, are eligible to apply, provided they can prove at least two years of public existence. The initiative aims to broaden its reach by encompassing a diverse range of institutional models and experiences linked to territories, traditional communities, and efforts to promote diversity and combat racism. Applications are free of charge and will be accepted until August 30, 2026. The full call for entries, including all rules and participation criteria, is available on the ICOM Brasil website in four languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French. This multilingual approach ensures that institutions from various contexts can review the requirements before formalizing their candidacy. The deadline for submissions is set for August 30.
