ICA Milano Announces 2023 Exhibition Program with Benassi, Ng'ok, and Stipe
Fondazione ICA Milano, located south of Fondazione Prada in the city's most rapidly transforming area, has unveiled its 2023 exhibition schedule. The program opens on January 25 with solo shows by Riccardo Benassi (born 1982, Cremona) and Chemutai Ng'ok (born 1989, Nairobi). Benassi's exhibition 'Morestalgia,' curated by Alberto Salvadori, runs until March 18 on the ground floor, featuring new works that explore language and pandemic-era nostalgia through a neologism. His 2019 installation uses a penetrable LED screen to create a sensory experience about bodily presence, while also addressing AI and automated creativity. Ng'ok's show 'An impression that may possibly last forever,' curated by Chiara Nuzzi, is her first European solo exhibition, presenting ten paintings and drawings on conflict, inspired by South African student protests (2015-16) and Kenyan presidential elections (2017). The program continues with Nathalie Provosty (born 1981, Cincinnati), Aziz Hazara (born 1992, Wardak; works between Kabul and Ghent; participated in the 22nd Biennale of Sydney), Rebecca Moccia (born 1992, Naples), Leda Catunda (born 1961, São Paulo), a collaborative exhibition by Camille Henrot (born 1978, Paris) and Estelle Hoy (born 1983, Australia), and concludes with Michael Stipe (born 1960, Decatur), artist and former R.E.M. frontman.
