Iberdrola and Bilbao Fine Arts Museum Launch 2026-2027 Conservation Fellowships
The Fundación Iberdrola and the Fundación Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao have announced two training fellowships in the museum's Conservation and Restoration Department. The program aims to foster professional integration, expand knowledge in conservation and restoration, and promote research skills. Fellows will engage in conservation treatments of the museum's collection, document their work, participate in loan and temporary exhibition preparations, and conduct technical research. Applicants must hold a degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage (painting, paper, sculpture) or a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, completed no earlier than the 2019-2020 academic year. A minimum average grade of "notable" (roughly B) is required. Advanced photography and digital image processing skills are necessary, along with English proficiency; other languages are valued. The fellowship runs from September 1, 2026, for ten consecutive months, with a possible one-time extension of another ten months subject to favorable reports. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Applications must be submitted online via the museum's website from April 20 to May 10, 2026, and include a CV, academic transcript, two recommendation letters from active professors, and a two-page motivation memo in Arial Narrow 12pt.
