IAQOS: Rome's First Neighborhood AI Born from Open Source
On March 31, 2019, the Torpignattara district of Rome will see the debut of IAQOS, the first neighborhood artificial intelligence that is open-source. This initiative, developed by artists Salvatore Iaconesi and Oriana Persico—who are also the founders of Art is Open Source and the HER research center—is supported by funding from the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage via the "PeriferIA Intelligente" initiative. The grant was awarded in collaboration with Sineglossa Creative Ground and Dieci Mondi. IAQOS will collect information on local daily life through observations and interactions with residents. This project follows their previous work, the linguistic AI Angel F from 2009, and aims to foster societal benefit through technology, promoting collaboration across various fields for inclusive innovation.
