IAMISIGO Spring 2027: Memory Boards and Royal Headdresses Inspire Copenhagen Show
During Copenhagen Fashion Week, IAMISIGO unveiled its Spring 2027 line, drawing inspiration from African memory traditions and regal attire. Bubu Ogisi, the founder, highlighted the 'lukasa' memory boards from the Luba culture and the elaborate headdresses of the Asante's nsɛneɛfoɔ. The collection included tall hats, exaggerated silhouettes, intricately embroidered pants in earthy tones, and elongated ties crafted from beaded fabrics adorned with 3D snakes. Ogisi pointed out the role of snakes in African mythology as representations of memory. Last summer, she made her debut in Copenhagen, earning the Zalando Visionary Award, and is committed to sustainability by incorporating African heritage and experimenting with Ugandan bark cloth and fibers from bananas and pineapples.
