I-Talìa: CESURA's Photographic Exploration of Calabria in Artist Video 'I Lupi'

The CESURA collective, founded in 2008, launched its new project I-Talìa with a focus on Cosenza, Calabria. Four photographers—Andrea Nicotra, Camilla Pedretti, Alessandro Sala, and Marco Zanella—created the artist video 'I Lupi,' which compiles black-and-white images capturing the communities of the Cosenza valley. Curated by CESURA founder Alex Majoli and set to music by Cesare Basile, the video premiered on August 1 at the Fotografia Calabria Festival in San Lucido (CS). The project involves 12 CESURA photographers working in three Italian cities—Monfalcone, Cosenza, and Oristano—through 14-day residencies, with four artists per location. The resulting works will be exhibited locally, and 80 photographs will enter the public collection of MUFOCO – Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea di Cinisello Balsamo. A selection will also be published in the fanzine I-Talìa by Cesura Publish. The photographers describe Cosenza as a 'central margin' of the Southern Question, where identity is built through dialogue between past and present, intimate and collective.
