I Santissimi's Deformed Anatomies and Fly Swarms at White Noise Gallery Rome
The Sardinian artist duo I Santissimi, composed of Sara Renzetti and Antonello Serra, presented their first solo exhibition in Rome at White Noise Gallery. The show features formless bodies, impossible anatomical compositions of flesh, and swarms of flies individually sculpted in silicone. The works blend entomological and anatomical studies, evoking the oppressive spaces between suggestions and hallucinations of 'mad scientists'. A persistent carnality subverts classical stereotypes, where the fly becomes a harbinger of life and rebirth, guiding toward a still-unformed matter (Mom), an unsettling state of ancestral gestation. The hyperrealist technique serves to highlight the inner value of the works, which mirror the tortuous human experience. Self-portraits of the artists watch over rebirth in a mix of anguish and melancholy, like modern chimeras oscillating in an infinite moment. The exhibition was reviewed by Ilenia Maria Melis.
