I Martedì Critici turns 10: Italy's most famous art talk series celebrates a decade

other · 2026-04-27

Alberto Dambruoso's art talk series I Martedì Critici has reached its 10th anniversary, having hosted 200 events across four cities (Rome, Milan, Naples, Cairo) and 16 venues including MACRO, MAXXI, Chiostro del Bramante, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo. The project began in Dambruoso's studio at Colle Oppio in Rome and has featured over 320 artists, with notable guests including Hermann Nitsch, Studio Azzurro, and Antonio Presti. The series has also organized a conference on art criticism during the 2015 Venice Biennale, curated five exhibitions at Temple University Rome, and managed the BoCS Art residency in Cosenza involving more than 320 artists. Dambruoso emphasizes the project's independence from market forces and its collaborative nature, with a dozen co-hosts and a dedicated team. Future plans include expanding to Italian Cultural Institutes worldwide and potentially a TV adaptation, though previous proposals to Sky and Rai 5 were rejected as "not suitable for TV times." Dambruoso will appear on Rai 2's La Porta Segreta as an art historian.
