I Luoghi dell’Anima – Italian Film Festival launches for Tonino Guerra centenary
The first edition of I Luoghi dell’Anima – Italian Film Festival launches from March 18 to 21, 2021, on MyMovies, celebrating the centenary of poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra. The festival takes place in Pennabilli and Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy, and is chaired by Andrea Guerra, Tonino’s son, with artistic direction by Steve Della Casa and Paola Poli. The theme is “Il cinema e la televisione illuminano i territori,” focusing on audiovisual works inspired by the soul of a landscape, local traditions, memory, environmental sustainability, slow living, and resilience. The festival is structured around three sub-themes: March 18 (memory and roots), March 19 (utopia), and March 20 (mother earth). It features a documentary competition with a jury chaired by Oscar winner Terry George, alongside traditional cinema. Andrea Guerra describes the festival as a continuation of Tonino Guerra’s slow-living philosophy, which influenced Carlo Petrini’s Slow Food movement. The festival aims to promote cultural tourism and highlight lesser-known aspects of territories. A prize for best soundtrack is included, though no live music events are planned for this edition.
