I Lari: Modern Protective Spirits at Antonio Colombo Gallery

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Galleria Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan is set to unveil the exhibition 'I lari, gli spiriti protettori della casa,' curated by Alessandro Guerriero, alongside Antonio Zuiani and Franco Raggi. Initially developed for the 2017 Triennale di Milano's '999 domande sull'abitare contemporaneo,' the project was later showcased at Superstudio during Fuorisalone 2018 and at Moscow Design Week. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the influential Alchimia design movement from the 1980s, the exhibition features original members like Alessandro Guerriero and Andrea Branzi, as well as other artists reimagining the ancient Roman 'lari' as contemporary votive sculptures. The pieces, displayed in the Little Circus area, are arranged as totems, prioritizing personal spirituality over functionality and drawing inspiration from Le Corbusier's Modulor while embracing creative liberty.
