I Food Designer Launch 'Ultimo Tocco' Delivery Service in Milan

The Milan-based creative collective I Food Designer, founded in 2006 by Paolo Barichella, Mauro Olivieri, Ilaria Legato, Marco Pietrosante, and Francesco Subioli, has launched 'Ultimo Tocco', a delivery service designed specifically for home consumption. The project emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic as a response to the challenges faced by restaurateurs, aiming to preserve the quality of gourmet dishes in a takeaway format. The system involves two-stage preparation and finishing, with meals delivered in single-portion containers that require minimal user effort—using a microwave or boiling water—to complete. The menu includes deconstructed Spritz aperitifs, pastry baskets called 'Toc' with various toppings, fresh egg pasta, and risottos. All packaging is recyclable polypropylene. The startup behind the project, Affettami Srl, was founded in May 2019 by Simone Lioci, Mauro Olivieri, and Food Lifestyle Srl, a food innovation company led by Paolo Barichella. In 2014, I Food Designer participated in the ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) thematic commission and contributed to the ADI Food Design Manifesto, which defined food design as a discipline within industrial design. The service is currently available only in Milan.
