I-DEA project concludes with exhibition on archives in Basilicata
Curated by Joseph Grima and Chiara Siravo, I-DEA was a flagship project of Matera 2019, exploring archives and collections in Basilicata through multidisciplinary artists and designers. The final exhibition, "De-Archiving Dwelling" by Liam Gillick and Pelin Tan, examines housing as a tool for social change and rethinks narratives of Matera's modernization, including subcultures in the Sassi after displacement. The project involved curators Mario Cresci, Virgilio Sieni, Studio Formafantasma, James Bridle, and Navine Khan Dossos. On December 9 at 6 PM, artist Giulia Bruno opens an installation on archives at Cava Paradiso. A digital platform with a database of all exhibited objects is being developed with Omnigroup, and a book series with Nationhood (publisher of Archivio Magazine) and Humboldt will cover five selected archives. The exhibition runs until January 20, 2019.
