Hyperrealist Macbeth installation at Parma's Verdi OFF

exhibition · 2026-04-26

An immersive installation titled 'Il sonno uccidesti' by Damiano Michieletto and Paolo Fantin presents a hyperrealist sculpture of Macbeth, seated in an armchair in a dark pool, threatened by sharp glass blades. Commissioned for the 10th edition of Verdi OFF in Parma, the work explores Macbeth's psychological paralysis and guilt, drawing on Shakespeare and Verdi. The piece features sound design by Michele Braga, light design by Alessandro Carletti, and hyperrealistic art by Leonardo Cruciano and Imaginari Factory. It is housed in the former church of San Ludovico in Borgo del Parmigianino, where visitors can sit before the sculpture. The installation reflects on contemporary isolation and despair.
