Hyperloop One: supersonic travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi by 2020

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Bjarke Ingels, founder of BIG, has unveiled plans for Hyperloop One, a supersonic transport system developed by Hyperloop and conceived by Elon Musk. The system uses pressurized capsules moving in a low-friction circuit, capable of exceeding 1000 km/h. The first elevated network could be built by 2020 in the desert between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, reducing travel time to 12 minutes. Future extensions would connect Dubai to Riyadh in 48 minutes, Doha in 23, and Muscat in 27. A video by Squint/Opera explains the technology.
