Hyperlocal Rebibbia: Photography and Writing Project in Rome Prison

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Curated by Edizioni Zero, the Hyperlocal Rebibbia initiative has transformed Rome's Rebibbia prison and its nearby metro station into an outdoor photography showcase named 'Un mondo alla rovescia', which will be available until December 18, 2025. Over a span of two months, seventeen inmates worked alongside photographers and writers, culminating in 120 posters exhibited outside the Rebibbia Metro B stop. This display includes both archival and contemporary pieces from various artists. It aligns with the Jubilee of Prisoners on December 14, when a special magazine will be launched. Additionally, two discussions are planned for December 4 and 11. This project follows Marinella Senatore's artwork revealed on December 21, 2024, and a permanent installation by Eugenio Tibaldi. Pope Francis inaugurated the second Holy Door at Rebibbia around Christmas 2024.
