Hyperallergic's In Memoriam: Georg Baselitz, Nicole Hollander, Doris Fisher, and Others
Hyperallergic’s In Memoriam section honors several significant figures from the art community who have recently died. Doris F. Fisher (1931–2026), who helped establish The Gap with her spouse Don, amassed a remarkable art collection and, in 2009, donated over 1,000 works to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Stephanie Chernikowski (1941–2026) gained recognition for her photographs of New Wave icons like Bruce Springsteen, with her pieces featured in MoMA and the Brooklyn Museum.
