Hye the Store: Copenhagen Boutique Showcases Korean Craft and Design

A new boutique named Hye the Store has opened in Copenhagen's Nordhavn area, specializing in South Korean and Asian crafts. Situated at Århusgade 128H in a red-brick warehouse, the shop was established in June by Hyeyoung Hwang, a former editor from Seoul. It showcases a carefully selected range of craft items, design pieces, clothing, and accessories from independent Asian artisans, emphasizing Korean and Japanese heritage. The inaugural collection features creations from 15 South Korean artists, including Taesoo Kim’s traditional sabal bowls and Studio EAEA's cherry wood cutting boards. Notably, the 'Mosi' moon jar by Artbo Studio, created by Los Angeles-based Korean artist Yejin Shin, is made from traditional ramie fabric. Hwang highlights the significance of practical, tactile items that seamlessly integrate into European lifestyles. Additionally, the store plans to introduce its own designs, beginning with placemats and coasters crafted from mosi and sambe fabrics, and will host tea gatherings and dinners to enhance the experience around its offerings. Hye the Store is located in a revitalized harbor area featuring The Audo, Gubi, Kvadrat, BIG's headquarters, and JAJA Architects' Park'n'Play.
