Hybrid Process Frames for AI-Augmented Business Process Management Systems
A new paper on arXiv (2604.22455) conceptualizes the process frame of an AI-Augmented Business Process Management System (ABPMS) as a hybrid business process representation. Unlike traditional process models, the process frame is more permissive, enabling framed autonomy for semi-autonomous ABPMS behavior. It integrates heterogeneous knowledge from predefined procedures to commonsense rules, not limited to a single formalism. The authors propose that the process frame consists of semi-concurrently executed procedural and declarative process models, building on their earlier work to outline execution semantics.
