Hunter College Exhibition 'Notations' Celebrates John Cage Centennial with 28 International Artists

The exhibition titled 'Notations: The Cage Effect Today' took place from February 17 to April 21, 2012, at the Times Square Gallery of Hunter College. Curated by Joachim Pissaro alongside Bibi Calderaro, Julio Grinblatt, and Michelle Yun, the event marked the centenary of John Cage. It showcased the works of twenty-eight artists from around the globe, highlighting Cage's impact on art within natural settings and the concept of indeterminacy. Significant pieces featured included Cage's film 'One', Robert Filliou's 'Telepathic Music #5', and Edgardo Rudnitzky's 'Octopus'. Additionally, Yukio Fujimoto's 'Ears with Chair' and Leon Ferrari's 'Colgante Escultura Sonora' were prominent. The exhibition catalogue contained essays by Pissaro and students reflecting on Cage's enduring influence.
