Curatori ungheresi riflettono sull'evoluzione istituzionale post-1989 e sulla pratica indipendente
Prima del 1989, le iniziative curatoriali indipendenti in Ungheria incontravano numerose limitazioni, ma gli anni '90 portarono nuove possibilità. Lívia Páldi, curatrice capo del Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle Budapest, ha svolto un ruolo fondamentale nella fondazione dell'Istituto d'Arte Contemporanea di Dunaújváros. La Lega degli Spazi Artistici Non-Profit (LIGA), che ha ricevuto il sostegno di Pro Helvetia, comprendeva sei istituzioni, tra cui la Galleria Bartók 32. Nel 2009, Eszter Lázár ha avviato il Programma di Teoria dell'Arte presso l'Università Ungherese di Belle Arti. Beata Hock ha curato la mostra Agents & Provocateurs, presentando oltre 30 artisti internazionali. Adèle Eisenstein ha organizzato Donumenta 2010–Ungarn a Regensburg, con artisti come Attila Csörgi. János Szoboszlai ha evidenziato le critiche del settore privato riguardo alle inefficienze istituzionali dell'Ungheria. L'ICA-D ha affrontato difficoltà finanziarie nel 2010, raccogliendo oltre 1500 firme di sostegno.
