Humus Magazine Returns in Digital Form After 50 Years
Humus, a magazine founded in April 1973 by the Iris Foundation and curated by Gianni Sassi and Sergio Albergoni's agency Al.Sa, has been revived in digital format by Iris Ceramica Group. The original publication was a quarterly on ceramic culture, strategy, and technique, but also covered a wide range of topics including Frank Zappa, California freak schools, video-tape, Monument Valley, Italian pop, New York graffiti, and neo-avant-garde art and music. The new digital edition, coordinated by journalist Antonella Galli, focuses on architecture, design, art, and creativity with a special emphasis on ceramics. Five issues are planned for 2025, starting with 'Riscoprire la terra' (Rediscovering the Earth), a tribute to soil. The magazine aims to be a space for listening, reflection, and in-depth analysis, continuing its original mission to 'redefine ceramics' by exploring its technical uses and strategic value in aesthetics, urban planning, economy, and civil life. Each issue will revolve around a central theme developed by authors from diverse fields such as physics, literature, sociology, and biology.
