HUMANS video art series on Artribune TV features Marcella Vanzo and Shawnette Poe

Artribune TV launches the fifth installment of its episodic video art series HUMANS, curated by Giovanni Viceconte. The series, born from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, presents video portraits of contemporary society. Each episode is identified by a keyword; the fifth is titled '[S]Laccio' (meaning 'slipknot' or 'tie'). Featured artists are Marcella Vanzo and Shawnette Poe. Vanzo's video 'Limbo' (2006) depicts a family dinner as a double bind, with figures wearing braces to show weaknesses. The soundtrack uses an echo doppler recording of blood flow. Poe's 'Barszcz z Uszkami' (2014) shows the artist and her mother blindfolded, attempting to feed each other traditional Polish beet soup, exploring trust and failure in caregiving. Vanzo, born 1973 in Milan, founded The Momentary Now Performance School at ZONA K in 2019 and teaches at Accademia Carrara di Bergamo. Poe, born 1980 in Warsaw, lives in Berlin and works in duo with Alessandro Fonte as Fonte & Poe.
