Hugo Toro Debuts First US Solo Exhibition at Perrotin New York

exhibition · 2026-05-20

French Mexican artist Hugo Toro, who also works in architecture and interior design, will mount his first solo art exhibition in the United States this summer at Perrotin New York. The show will feature over a dozen paintings and sculptures, many never before seen. Toro's work explores themes of origin, belonging, identity, and water as a metaphor for memory. He describes his process as intuitive, starting from emotional impulses and moving from abstraction to figuration. A small selection of the works was previously shown at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Paris. Toro has designed interiors for Hôtel Palm Beach in Cannes and Orient Express La Minerva in Rome.
