Hugo Pratt exhibition coming to Genoa's Palazzo Ducale
Palazzo Ducale in Genoa will host "Hugo Pratt da Genova ai Mari del Sud" from October 15, 2021 to May 8, 2022. The exhibition celebrates the bond between the city and Corto Maltese, the famous sailor hero created by Italian comic master Hugo Pratt (Rimini, 1927 – Lausanne, 1995). Corto Maltese's first story, "Una ballata del mare salato," was published in 1967 in the first issue of "Sgt. Kirk," a comic magazine edited by Genoese Fiorenzo Ivaldi. The show features 200 original works including boards and watercolors, tracing Pratt's universe: rebels, independence fighters, Native Americans, strong women, the woods and prairies of Wheeling and Ticonderoga, Africa from "Gli Scorpioni del deserto," "In un cielo lontano," and "Etiopiche."
