Hugo Boss Asia Art 2017 Award Exhibition Features Four Artists Across Rockbund Art Museum Floors

From October 27 to February 11, the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai hosted the Hugo Boss Asia Art 2017 exhibition, featuring nominees Yu Ji, Tao Hui, Robert Zhao Renhui, and Li Ming. Each artist presented their work on a separate floor, focusing on themes of repetition and linearity. Tao Hui's piece, Hello, Finale! (2017), utilized nine monitors to delve into performativity. Robert Zhao Renhui's collection critiqued human-animal interactions, including works like Eskimo Wolf Trap Often Quoted in Sermons (2013). Li Ming's Rendering the Mind (2017) employed multiple screens to reflect on environments, referencing A Man Escaped (1956). Yu Ji's sculptures, such as Passage (2017), drew inspiration from literature and Taiwanese mythology, prompting discussions on geopolitical representation in art.
