Hub Roma: multifunctional hub in via Pettinengo nears completion
The multifunctional Hub complex in Rome's Tiburtina district is progressing toward completion, with September 2020 set for delivery of the 2,400 sqm former Arteria space. Designed by IT'S studio, the project aims to regenerate a 5,000 sqm industrial lot. Film production company 8 Production, founded by Laura Catalano in 2013, moved into Hub two years ago and has expanded into virtual reality. The complex also houses IT'S and its subsidiary Parallel Digital. During lockdown, Hub hosted the Live on Hub talk series curated by IT'S, Ulis, and 8 Production, covering cinema, video, experimentation, and digital innovation. Architects Alessandro Cambi, Francesco Marinelli, and Paolo Mezzalama describe the area as a "terrain vague" between consolidated city and periphery, with railway station, industrial spaces, and public housing. The project includes transformation or demolition of existing buildings and new volumes to create an ecosystem for exchange while preserving autonomy of current and future tenants.
