Huawei Invests $11.7B in Autonomous Driving Training

Huawei is significantly increasing its commitment to autonomous driving, planning to invest US$11.7 billion (18 billion yuan) in research and development in 2026 alone. The tech powerhouse from Shenzhen asserts that it will surpass the combined spending of its competitors to enhance computing power, which is crucial for improving advanced driver assistance systems. This investment aims to boost the reliability of vehicles equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS autopilot technology as the company seeks to grow its customer base. Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei's intelligent automotive solutions division, emphasized at a Beijing event on Thursday that long-term investment is vital for autonomous driving, predicting Huawei's expenditures will outstrip those of all other major providers. Recently, the Qiankun ADS platform achieved over 10 billion kilometers of autonomous driving, being widely adopted across mainland China with collaborations involving 25 car brands and installations in over 50 models. So far, 1.7 million vehicles equipped with this system have been delivered to customers in China.
