HPO.TECH's Oyster Chamber Reimagines Hyperbaric Therapy as Design
Istanbul-based HPO.TECH, led by co-founder and CTO Tolga Kabak, has designed the Oyster hyperbaric chamber, an oystershell-inspired capsule that prioritizes psychological comfort through organic geometry and large panoramic windows. The chamber operates up to 2.4 ATA and integrates aerospace-grade engineering with wellness aesthetics, shifting hyperbaric oxygen therapy from clinical steel tanks to a human-centered living capsule. Kabak, a mechanical engineer with a master's degree in hyperbaric chambers, emphasizes spatial perception, light, and interior volume to reduce claustrophobia. The design treats transparency as a central structural component rather than an afterthought, enabling safe observation points via rigorous stress and fatigue analysis. HPO.TECH envisions the Oyster supporting advanced research in age reversal and neurological recovery.
