Houston Center for Contemporary Craft Names 2026-2027 Resident Artists

The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) has announced its selection of ten artists for the 2026-2027 residency program, which includes five Texans. Among the chosen are Trevon Latin, Asia Estelle, and Stephanie Cuyubamba Kong from Houston, along with Jack Hein from Garland and Hugo Nakashima-Brown from Austin. The group also includes Arden Carlson (Benton, Kentucky), Maria De Los Angeles Rodriguez Jimenez (Queens, New York), Bryan Parnham (Forest, Virginia), Georgina Trevino (Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California), and Sheldon Wong (Honolulu, Hawaii). Residencies, lasting between three to twelve months, allow artists to explore various media, including clay, wood, fiber, metal, and photography. Participants receive a $1,000 monthly stipend, studio space, a housing allowance, and opportunities for professional growth. They are expected to open their studios to the public twice a week and may engage in artist talks or take part in HCCC's annual In Residence exhibition. Since its inception in 2001, the residency program has aimed to assist artists at every stage of their careers. In 2019, HCCC collaborated with the Houston Center for Photography to further support creators in craft and lens-based fields. Applications for the 2027-2028 cycle will open on December 1, 2026.
