House of Rare Tequila Releases Rarecask Genesis PX Extra Añejo

House of Rare Tequila has launched Rarecask Genesis PX, an extra añejo finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The tequila was distilled at the Arette distillery, aged three years in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished at least three months in PX sherry casks. It is the first commercial release from the Rarecask program, which began in 2022 and has included 20 editions from brands like Cascahuin, Atanasio, Arette, and Real Matatl. Founder Miguel Ortiz, inspired by scotch whisky, created a private barrel aging program. The tequila is 46% ABV, with notes of dried fruit, spice, cherry, fig, and grassy agave. It is available for preorder at $230. Other expressions include Founder's Cut, House Reposado, and House Blanco, produced at the brand's newly acquired Herencia De Agaves (NOM 1648).
