Hot air balloons to float over Paestum's ancient temples

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

From September 30 to October 8, the 13th edition of the International Hot Air Balloon Rally will take place at Paestum, Italy, with colorful balloons flying over the archaeological area of the Greek temples. Organized by the association Vivere Paestum, the event attracts up to 30,000 visitors and features balloons from across Italy and abroad, along with national and international flight champions. Participants can enjoy free flights with expert pilots or tethered flights rising up to 25 meters for a unique view of the temples. The rally village will host workshops, street artists, local product exhibitions, and territory discovery days. The event is part of a broader Italian hot air balloon tradition, which includes the 36th Italian International Balloon Grand Prix in Umbria, the Mondovì balloon port in Piedmont, and the handmade paper balloons of Ventotene island.
