Honor's Flashlight Humanoid Robot Breaks Human Half-Marathon Record in Beijing Competition
A humanoid robot named Flashlight, developed by Chinese technology company Honor, achieved a remarkable half-marathon time of 50 minutes 26 seconds in Beijing. This performance surpassed the current men's world record of 57:20 held by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo by nearly seven minutes. The robot also outpaced the fastest human participant in Sunday's race by approximately 17 minutes. Over 100 robots and thousands of human runners competed in the event. The top three finishers were all Lightning model robots operated by separate teams, as competition rules allow different hardware and algorithms to control the same robot model. Standing 169cm tall and weighing around 45kg, the winning robot was engineered for high-speed movement across complex terrain.
