Hong Kong Exhibition Highlights: Noguchi's Chinese Influence, Tidal Weavers, and Border Themes
Four significant exhibitions are concluding in Hong Kong during October 2025. White Cube presents a survey of Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988), examining how his six-month 1930–31 Beijing residency with ink master Qi Baishi shaped his subsequent paintings and sculpture. At the Centre for Heritage Arts & Textile (CHAT), "Tidal Weavers" showcases collaborative works from residency exchanges across the South China Sea, bringing together artists, weavers, researchers, and community members to explore relationships between people, water, land, and textiles. Blindspot Gallery hosts Isaac Chong Wai's second solo exhibition, featuring neon light works, glass sculptures, drawings, prints, and video that continue his investigation of bodily fragility, trauma, and healing begun in his 2021/24 video installation "Falling Reversely." David Zwirner presents the group exhibition "Border(line)," which gathers gallery artists and contemporary Asian voices to examine literal and abstract thresholds dividing nations, spaces, and contemporary life, exploring how borders might enable connection. The Noguchi exhibition runs September 12–October 18, "Tidal Weavers" continues through October 26, Chong Wai's show is on view September 16–November 1, and "Border(line)" closes October 25.
